For a friend....
I saw Farmama's and I fell in love (she is pretty terrific, don't you agree?).
I KNEW I NEEDED to learn.
Pronto.
I went to work researching and found some instructions that I could understand. Crochet = Me and my left handedness at it's worst. ( I can't follow right handed instructions to save my LIFE.)
But I figured it out.
Over the course of 2 nights (and a few minutes here and there), I started and finished my gift for my friend.
I ripped fabric that I had no use for into strips and rolled them into balls. A tedious job, but well worth the effort... I assure you.
I crocheted the fabric yarn (Apparently that is what it is referred to as .....who knew?!?!?!) into lovely rounds frayed goodness.
And while the bottom resembles a knotty mess.
The top looked absolutely heavenly.
And little by little it began to resemble a rug.
A curly, wonky, puckered rug that I needed to find a way to fix.
So, a bit more research led me to learn how to flatten it out.
I soaked it in a tub of scalding water.
And then I patted it dry with 6 towels on the bathroom floor.
It is now drying by the vent to the wood stove. Symmetrically pucker free....F-L-A-T.
And in a few days it will be packaged up and find it's way to my friend.
