Tears...

I thought that I was going to be OK with this.

But, I'm not.

I'm so sad.

Laura and I have decided to close up shop.

Adirondack Mama's Gifts is no more.

And two bins of baby goods (stock piled for this coming Farmer's Market Season) sit in Laura's house with not a baby to wear them.   NO more Etsy, no more weekly Farmer's Markets, no more Craft Fairs.

I won't go into the details, but we are getting out before this gets even more ridiculous.

Labels including everything but the kitchen sink.

Fabric content .

Care instructions.

Lot Numbers .

Warnings to NOT use a bib ribbon as a means of strangling yourself.

CPSIA, FTC, ETSY......ABC's and 123's.

Isn't that the whole charm of handmade (avoiding all of that crap attached to a tag that's attached to your kid?)

Anyway, the world of commerce appears to be going straight to Hell in a hand basket and we are not going to go along for the ride.

(I promised myself that this was not going to become a HUGE bitch Fest)

I'm sorry.

*****************************************************

I have to remember though, this is a hobby after all, it is NOT our lively hood.  When it comes right down to it, we just don't have the energy to keep up with all of these regulations....while working full time and raising our boys and loving our husbands.

It WAS a wonderful year though.

All I can do is cry and laugh and remember all of the wonderful times that we had over the past year.

I will miss the car trips packed to the brim with baskets and tents and tables.

and car seats filled with our sweet, unbelievably tolerant boys.

I will miss the laughs at our own expense.

and our all day sewing bees while learning on my Gram's old machine.

I will miss being able to watch our goods literally walk away in the form of a little girl wearing one of my sister's beautifully hands crafted dresses.

But most of all, I will miss a creative outlet so gratifying shared with my best friend.

I have learned so much.

I'm heartbroken.
