Twilight Flight...

Last night as the sun was setting Fran called me down stairs to show me the view outside.

The marks left in the snow by the wings of a bird taking flight.

The flapping of their little wings, so quick that it allowed for lift-off within a 4 inch space.

He asked if I wanted to take some pictures of it.

"I'll be right back."

So I grabbed my camera and went outside.  Boots hastily thrown over my jeans to capture it's path.

The imprints of it's tiny feet.

We feed them through the winter.

Under the shelter of little houses made of scrap wood by my husband.

They like it here.
And we like them right back.

Laura and I are off to Vermont for a few days with the boys.  A visit with our best friend from College and her own little boys.

A celebratory trip for superb interim reports from the boy's teachers.

Complete with lots of food, laughs, swimming in a hotel pool....and the best part..... NO set bedtime.

It kind of makes me wish I was five years old again.
