In search of spring...

(Thank you Mary, for thinking of this...we went searching today and found just what we were looking for.)

Yesterday, after a visit with the doctor (with a diagnosis of a virus and croup for both boys) Eben and I decided to go for a walk down to the river by our house.  His lungs needed some fresh air and I was in serious need of a walk and some sunshine.  We packed a backpack full of juice boxes, a book, some crackers, my Gram's old throw rug (handed down from my mom... Thanks Mom) to sit on... and were on our way.

We held hands and skipped down the road a third of a mile.

Until we were there.

At the frozen river.

The tracks from cross country skiers on the top crust of snow let me know that it was OK for walking on.  So I laid down my rug and book right in the center of the river, where it is usually the calmest...the most deep.

An uninterrupted hour spent reading my book and absorbing the sunlight.  So happy to be home with my boy for the day.

And Eben did what Eben does best when we go down to the river....

He got wet.

He explored.

And he sat with his mama on the rug and had a snack.

It was lovely and sweet and cleansing.

A wonderful reminder of the health and heat and happiness to come in the upcoming months.

Spring certainly has some wonderful things in store for us.
